Women and men who are becoming parents for the first time are often unsure how to organise baby care properly at the beginning. How do I hold my baby? How often do I have to bathe or wash it? How does nappy changing actually work? Our midwife Katharina will answer these and many other questions in her online baby care course.
The baby care course is all about the baby. Together with a midwife, you will learn how to organise baby care properly. But this course is not only suitable for parents-to-be, grandparents, godparents or the future babysitter can also take part in the course. Our midwife Katharina will use a doll to explain exactly how to care for your baby properly.

The right baby care
A baby care course will help you in the first time after the birth. Perhaps you haven't had the opportunity to hold, nappy change or bathe a baby before? A tiny baby can be a real challenge, especially for "new mums". If those little arms just don't want to go through your sleeve, it's good to know what tricks you can use. In her online baby care course, our midwife Katharina not only explains how to care for your baby, she also tells you how to recognise a healthy child. After all, it is important for your baby that you can decide when everything is okay and when your baby absolutely needs the help of a doctor.
What do you need for baby care?
With all the baby care products out there, you often don't know what you really need. With the online course on baby care, you get a 7-page checklist with all the important purchases for your baby. Of course, it also contains a list of all the important baby care utensils. In addition to nappies, flannels and a changing unit, you would also be well advised to buy a few things to prevent sore bottoms and tummy aches.
Which care products do I really need for baby care?
You'll be amazed at which baby care products you can do without. Our midwife Katharina has been looking after (expectant) mums before, during and after the birth for many years. She knows exactly what is important for baby care and what you can safely do without.

Baby care online - what you will learn in the course
The advantage of an online baby care course is that you can watch the videos as often as you like. Siblings can also take part and learn how to look after their new family member. You can do the course at your own pace and your partner can also join in. Our midwife Katharina has put together a very comprehensive baby care course, as many questions arise, especially for couples who are becoming parents for the first time.
The healthy baby
In the baby care course, you will learn what a healthy baby looks like and how it behaves. You will quickly realise which physical signs you need to pay attention to in order to better understand your baby and its needs.
Jaundice in newborns
Jaundice is common in newborn babies. But it is not always so easy to recognise. Sometimes jaundice is very pronounced, sometimes it is barely visible. In midwife Katharina's baby care course, you will learn what to look out for, what you can do yourself and when you should take your baby to the doctor.
Weight development of infants
Many parents are unable to judge for themselves whether their baby is gaining enough weight. If you want to check for yourself whether your baby's weight development is progressing optimally, it is important to know how much weight your little treasure should be gaining. The baby care course will teach you how your baby's weight should develop in the first few weeks and what you need to look out for.
Bonding for mum and baby
The bond between mother and baby does not end immediately after the birth. So if you don't immediately feel that you and your baby have a strong bond after a difficult birth in hospital, that's not a bad thing. The infant care course will teach you what bonding is all about and what you can do to build a strong bond between you and your baby.
Umbilical cord care
The navel and the remains of the umbilical cord must be cared for after birth. This is important so that your baby has a "beautiful" navel later on. You can also prevent inflammation by caring for the umbilical cord properly. Midwife Katharina will show you how to care for the umbilical cord properly and what you can do to prevent inflammation in the infant care course.
Nappy changing and care
Changing such a tiny baby can be a real challenge. Especially if you have no experience in baby care, it is helpful if you know how to handle your baby. After all, the arms and legs are still quite tiny and the joints are not yet firmly anchored. That will come. Until then, however, your baby needs to be handled safely and carefully. In the online course, you will learn how to swaddle your baby and get tips and tricks for correct handling.
Taking a baby's temperature
Especially in the first few weeks after the birth, you may need to check your baby's temperature from time to time. You don't want your baby to overheat and therefore be at risk. If you've never done this before, it's helpful to know what to look out for. You will also learn this in the baby care course from midwife Katharina.
Baby bath
The first baby bath is a great experience for parents and baby. But there are many unclear questions about baby bathing safety, the right temperature, do I need a bath additive or how often should I bathe my baby? Our midwife Katharina will answer these and many other questions in the baby care course.
